How Police arrested 8 teenagers during initiation into ‘Black Scorpion Cult’
The
Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight students for allegedly
belonging to the Black Scorpion Cult Group in Kara area of Sagamu Local
Government Area in Ogun State.
Muyiwa
Adejobi, the Ogun police spokesperson, revealed to journalists on
Sunday, November 15 that the suspects were rounded up during a cult
initiation ceremony.
Among
the arrested suspects are 18 year old Isa Suleiman and Adegba Michael
while the
remaining six who are below age 18 would have their names
withheld.
The
police spokesperson reported: “The suspects, who were arrested by
police operatives attached to Sagamu Division, with the help of members
of Vigilante Services of Ogun state , were caught in the act of
initiating another student of their school, Remo Divisional High School
Kara Sagamu, in a nearby bush around the area on Friday at about
1200hrs.”
Mr
Adejobi believes that the arrest of the teenage cultists sheds light on
the resolve of the Commisioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, to fight
cultism in the state.
Since
the arrest, the commissioner ordered that thye suspects be transferred
to the Department of Criminal and Intelligence at Eleweran in Abeokuta,
the state capital for further investigation and prosecution.
