Recently, Facebook
asked its workers to get rid of their iPhones and stick to the use of
Android devices. One may think this instruction is as a result of
rivalry or a pact with Google to suppress their iOS competition.
However, this is not the case. According to Wired, Chief Product
Officer, Chris Cox explained that Facebook now serves over 1.5 billion
people in the world and it was discovered that most of its users,
especially newer users in emerging markets, use the social network on
Android phones.
Now, this was a smart move by Facebook.
Is this the case in most companies? Do the employers and employees use
the same devices as their target audience? Do they make conscious
efforts to go through the same experiences as the public? Do they even
use the products they sell?
Marketers must adopt the same experiences as the public in order to
think, talk and act like them.
